Global Tablet Sales Witness a Healthy Boost
The latest report from the International Data Corporation (IDC) reveals a notable surge in global tablet sales during the third quarter of 2024. With a year-over-year growth of 20.4%, the industry shipped a total of 39.6 million tablets worldwide. This positive trend underscores the ongoing demand for tablets, which have become essential tools for both personal and professional use.
Apple Maintains Its Dominance
Apple continues to reign supreme in the tablet market, securing the top spot in Q3 2024. Although the tech giant achieved only a modest 1.4% YoY growth, it still shipped an impressive 12.6 million units. This significant volume cements Apple’s leadership position, with a sizeable gap ahead of its competitors.
Samsung Secures Second Place with Galaxy Tab A9 Series Success
Samsung, a longstanding player in the tablet space, claimed the second spot in terms of unit sales. The company shipped 7.1 million tablets, reflecting an encouraging 18.3% YoY growth. Analysts attribute this success primarily to the widespread appeal of the Galaxy Tab A9 series, which has resonated well with consumers.
Amazon’s Astonishing Growth Story
The e-commerce and technology giant, Amazon, steals the spotlight with an extraordinary performance in Q3 2024. Securing the third position, Amazon shipped 4.6 million units, representing an astonishing 111.3% YoY growth. This massive spike in sales can be largely attributed to the strategic pricing and promotions during Amazon Prime Day, highlighting the power of these exclusive sales events.
Following closely behind Amazon is Huawei, which also had a strong quarter. With 3.3 million units shipped and a notable 44.1% YoY increase, Huawei solidifies its position in the highly competitive tablet market.
Lenovo Rounds Out the Top Five
Lenovo, a well-known name in the technology industry, completes the top five rankings for Q3 2024 tablet sales. The company sold 3 million units, reflecting a healthy 14.7% YoY growth. This performance underscores Lenovo’s consistent presence in the market and its ability to maintain steady growth.
