Realme GT 7 Pro: Should You Buy It? An In-Depth Look

Weekly poll: will you buy the Realme GT 7 Pro?

Introduction

Realme GT 7 Pro

The Realme GT 7 Pro is the latest addition to the Realme GT series, and it’s generating a lot of buzz. With its impressive specs and features, the GT 7 Pro skips a generation, offering a significant upgrade from the previous GT 5 Pro. But is it worth your money? In this article, we’ll take a detailed look at the Realme GT 7 Pro, exploring its display, performance, camera, battery, and more. We’ll also compare it to its competitors to help you decide if it’s the right smartphone for you.

Display & Fingerprint Reader

Starting with the display, the Realme GT 7 Pro boasts a 6.78″ LTPO panel with a resolution of 1,264 x 2,780px, developed by Samsung. This display is super efficient and incredibly bright, reaching 6,000 nits. That’s right up there with the best displays on the market. In addition, Realme has opted for an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, a trend we’re seeing more and more as optical readers are phased out.

Performance & Battery

Under the hood, the GT 7 Pro is a powerhouse. It’s powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, ensuring smooth performance even for demanding tasks. As for battery life, the Chinese unit packs a massive 6,500mAh battery, while the Indian version comes with a still-impressive 5,800mAh capacity. This makes it the largest battery in the GT family, so you can expect excellent endurance.

Camera Setup

Realme has also stepped up its camera game with the GT-series. The GT 7 Pro features a 50MP 1/1.56” sensor (IMX906) as its main camera, along with a 50MP 3x telephoto lens (73mm, 1/1.95” IMX882) and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. You’ll also be able to record 8K video, though it’s limited to 24fps. All in all, this is a very capable camera system that should deliver excellent results.

Pricing & Competition

The Realme GT 7 Pro launched in China with a starting price of CNY 3,600 for the 12/256GB model, which roughly translates to $505/€465. This makes it more affordable than many other Snapdragon 8 Elite models on the market. For example, the OnePlus 13 with the same memory configuration costs CNY 4,500, while the Xiaomi 15 Pro will set you back CNY 5,300. If you’re looking for an alternative with a Dimensity 9400 chipset, the vivo X200 Pro and Oppo Find X8 Pro are excellent options, but they come with a higher price tag of CNY 5,300.

One of the closest competitors to the Realme GT 7 Pro is the iQOO 13, which is priced at CNY 4,000. It also features the Snapdragon 8 Elite and has a similar IP68/IP69 rating. However, the iQOO 13 sports a different display with a higher resolution and refresh rate, and a smaller 6,150mAh battery. When it comes to cameras, the iQOO 13 trades the telephoto module for a better 50MP ultra-wide lens.

Another option to consider is the Xiaomi 14T Pro, which is available in Western markets for €800. It may not have the latest chipset, but it still packs a punch with its Dimensity 9300+ processor. The display is a 6.67” 12-bit 144Hz panel, and while it’s not an LTPO display, it still offers a great visual experience. The camera setup is impressive, too, with a large 1/1.31” 50MP main sensor, although the telephoto lens has a smaller sensor and shorter lens than the GT 7 Pro.

Conclusion

The Realme GT 7 Pro offers a compelling package with its powerful performance, impressive display, and long-lasting battery life. Its camera setup is also very capable, and the starting price makes it a great value proposition. However, with the smartphone market being as competitive as ever, it’s worth considering all your options before making a decision.
