Samsung Galaxy A36: A Fresh Look for the A-Series
Samsung is shaking things up with the upcoming Galaxy A36, and possibly the A56, by introducing a new design language. Thanks to 3D renders from Giznext and OnLeaks, we can get an early look at what to expect. The most notable change is the departure from the separate camera lenses seen on current Galaxy A-series models. Instead, the Galaxy A36 will feature a camera island module with a vertical arrangement, harking back to the design of the Galaxy A30s. This gives the device a sleek and unified look. While Samsung is changing things up with the camera module, it’s retaining some familiar design elements, such as the Key Island, which houses the power and volume buttons.
Dimensions and Display
In terms of dimensions, the Galaxy A36 is ever so slightly narrower than its predecessor, the A35, measuring 77.9mm wide (78.4mm including the Key Island) compared to the A35’s 78.0mm width. The new model will also be a tad taller at 162.6mm, an increase from the A35’s 161.7mm stature. Samsung is also bumping up the screen size to 6.64 inches, a minor increase from the A35’s 6.60-inch display. Despite the larger display, the Galaxy A36 will be slimmer, with a thickness of 7.4mm compared to the A35’s 8.2mm profile. Including the camera bump, the thickness goes up to 9.6mm.
Performance and Hardware
Under the hood, the Galaxy A36 is expected to pack a punch. Recent Geekbench listings show the device (model number SM-A366B) running Android 15 with either a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or a 7s Gen 2 chipset. This continues Samsung’s trend of switching up chipset suppliers for the A3x series, with the A34 featuring a Dimensity 1080 and the A35 sporting an Exynos 1380. The Galaxy A36 will also likely feature an in-display fingerprint reader, similar to its predecessor.
Camera and Leaks
While we don’t have any camera specification details yet, the renders show a centered punch-hole camera on the front, indicating a selfie camera. The Galaxy A56, a sibling to the A36, has also been in the news recently with leaks of its own. The A56 is rumored to feature an Exynos 1580 chipset with AMD RDNA graphics. With these leaks surfacing, it’s likely that we’ll see official reveals of the A36 and A56 in the coming months, following the mid-March launch timeline of their predecessors.
In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy A36 promises a fresh take on the Galaxy A-series design, offering a slimmer form factor, a new camera island module, and a larger display. With possible hardware upgrades and a new look, the Galaxy A36 is shaping up to be an exciting addition to Samsung’s mid-range smartphone lineup. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to its official launch!
