Xiaomi Unveils Its New Flagship: The Xiaomi 15
Today, Xiaomi unveiled its highly anticipated new flagships, and to everyone’s surprise, the company introduced not one but three new models. Among these, the Xiaomi 15 stands out as a significant upgrade to its predecessor, packed with impressive features and a range of color options.
Powerful Performance with Snapdragon 8 Elite
At the heart of the Xiaomi 15 is the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, offering unmatched performance. This is paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or a whopping 1TB of fast UFS 4.0 storage. With this powerful combination, the device is sure to handle any task with ease.
Massive 5,400mAh Battery with Silicon-Carbon Tech
One of the most notable features of the Xiaomi 15 is its massive 5,400mAh battery, a significant upgrade from the Xiaomi 14’s 4,610mAh. This battery is enhanced with Silicon-Carbon technology, which has been gaining popularity for its efficiency. Despite the larger battery, the device is slightly smaller than its predecessor, measuring 152.3 x 71.2 x 8.08mm, and only a few grams heavier at 191g.
Stunning Display and Improved Security
The Xiaomi 15 retains the 6.36″ flat OLED display with a 1,200 x 2,670px resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness has been boosted to an impressive 3,200 nits, and the device now features an ultrasonic fingerprint reader for added security and convenience.
The display is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal glass, which is claimed to be 10 times tougher than the Gorilla Glass Victus used in the previous model. The phone’s frame is made of high-strength aluminum alloy with 33% higher bending resistance, and it carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Enhanced Camera System with 50MP Triple Setup
The camera system has received a few upgrades, including a triple 50MP setup. The main camera features the Light Fusion 900 sensor, offering a large 1/1.31″ size and 1.2µm pixels. The bright f/1.62 aperture and OIS enable sharp and clear images, and the camera also supports 5x lossless zoom. The telephoto lens now has a 60mm focal length and macro capabilities, while the ultra-wide camera offers a 115° field of view.
One of the most exciting upgrades is the ability to record 8K video at 30fps, along with 4K 30/60fps and Dolby Vision HDR support across all cameras.
Connectivity, Audio, and Software
The Xiaomi 15 offers a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port for 5Gbps data transfer and 90W fast charging, along with 50W fast wireless charging. The device is future-proof with its support for 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. While it lacks a headphone jack, it makes up for it with stereo speakers featuring Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio certifications.
Out of the box, the phone runs on the new HyperOS 2.0, offering a seamless and feature-rich user experience.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi 15 is now available for pre-order in China, with sales starting on October 31. The base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at CNY 4,500 ($630/€585/₹53,000), with higher-end configurations going up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
